Tasting experience: Our first coffee from India, with notes of dark chocolate, pecan and red apple
Country: India
Farm/Lot: Ratnagiri Estate
Roast: Light/Medium (City+)
Process: Washed
Varietal: Catuaí
Notes from Osito:
For nearly a century, the Patre family has been the steward of the land which is currently Ratnagiri Estate, producing specialty coffee and fine pepper. Ashok Patre, the third generation to work the land alongside his wife, Divya, is committed to ensuring the future of the farm by making it one of the most impressive operations we have seen - not just in India, but in the coffee-producing world. In addition to the exceptional experimental micro-lots produced at Ratnagiri, Mr. Patre also produces some more traditional washed process coffees each year. While we appreciate the complexity of the coffees Mr. Ashok produces with his anaerobic and yeast-inoculated ferments, we also enjoy the classic flavors of a traditional washed Indian lot. After all, it was these flavors that initially drew us to Indian coffees
